About this bags

These bags are genuinely 100% sustainable, crafted from natural jute that grows in abundance as a weed on marginalised land in Bangladesh. Known locally as the ‘golden fibre’, jute has a low environmental impact with no need for water. It also absorbs a large amount of carbon dioxide while growing and is extremely strong as a raw material.

The jute macrame bags are handcrafted by women living in remote rural villages in southern Bangladesh. These women work from their homes, in between caring for their families and traditionally tending the land. They are paid directly for their work, empowering them within their own society. The Jacksons are proud to support the education, healthcare and livelihoods of these craftspeople who have become Louise Jackson’s “extended family”.

Each jute bag is individually made and truly unique. Approx. 37 x39 with a 16cm base.

Orders ship from our Santa Barbara shop within 24 hours, and orders placed by 11am PT usually ship the same day. Shipping is free on orders over $95, otherwise $9.95. You can also pick up at our shop at 17 W. Gutierrez St., Santa Barbara, usually ready in 2 hours.

Return anything within 30 days, even after you have washed it. Turkish cotton gets softer with every wash, so give it a few. If you still don't love it, send it back for a refund.
