The Importance of Shopping Sustainably - The Riviera Towel Company

The Importance of Shopping Sustainably

When shopping for turkish towels, there are several options on the market, but when choosing a place to shop it is important to consider the environmental impacts your purchase has. At Riviera Towel Company, each towel purchase contributes to several nonprofits such as the Surf Rider Foundation. Founders Albert DiPadova and Shannon said, “"RTC donates 5% of our net profits to several marine agencies working to heal and protect our oceans. We like to think our collections are more than beautiful towels; to us they are the embodiment of our desire to protect and restore our Oceans on a global scale. We hope that creating relationships with these world class marine organizations will turn our towels into waves of advocacy.” Here are three reasons why sustainable shopping is important, and purchasing your turkish towel from Riviera Towel Company not only benefits you, but the planet.  Less textile waste Every second, one garbage truck carrying textile waste is deposited in a landfill or burned throughout the world. The reason behind the amount of textile waste piling up in landfills is mainly attributed too fast fashion and overconsumption practices. Brands participating in fast fashion forsake the quality of their pieces in order to lower their prices to increase consumption. Sustainable brands, on the other hand, place an emphasis on garment quality and use long-lasting materials in their manufacturing process. By purchasing items that will last longer, and are made with eco friendly materials, you can help contribute to decreasing the amount of textile waste in your community, and worldwide.    2. Fair wages and working conditions What keeps fast fashion popular is low prices, but these are only achievable because of harsh working conditions for workers in the garment and textile industry. This includes poor safety and health conditions, excessive working hours, and pressure to produce, which all increase the exploitation of workers. By switching to sustainable businesses and ethical brands, you may be more sure that your textiles were produced in a safe and fair working environment.   3. Reduced carbon footprint Turkish cotton towels vary in the material composition that fast fashion brands often use to create their textiles. Their materials mainly include petroleum based materials, compared to 100 percent turkish cotton towels. By supporting our brand, you are supporting the production of materials that require less water and less energy which reduces your carbon footprint.  To read more about our “feel good, do good” mission, and learn how you can support RTC and our cause, click here!

How to Decorate Your College Dorm Room - The Riviera Towel Company

How to Decorate Your College Dorm Room

Summer coming to a close means that many students are returning to campuses this fall. If you, or someone you know is about to be a first year student, then you know how stressful the planning and packing for dorm life can be. The way you arrange your apartment may reveal a lot about who you are. Redesigning your room might help you align your personality with your living area. After you've finished designing your room, you'll feel more confident in your space and more at ease in it. Unfortunately, college students rarely have a lot of room to work with. However, The Riviera Towel Company has some great pieces to tie together a college dorm and make it feel like home. Here are two of our most popular blankets and Turkish towels that you can take inspiration from; 1. Throw Blankets    Throw blankets are an essential part of any bedding regime, but what makes the RTC throw blankets so special is their versatility. These blankets look great at the end of any bed to add an extra pop of color, but if you're going to the park, beach, or any outdoors location, these blankets are great to lounge on with multiple friends. Pictured here is the La Jolla throw adding a cozy element to this otherwise plain chair setup. Typically freshman year of college is chaotic and stressful, so having multiple throws for picnics, unexpected guests, or to snuggle up with during finals is a must. 2. The Essential Towel Don’t underestimate the power of a cute bath towel while living in a dorm room. When you’re living in such a small space, being able to save on storage is a big deal. When out of use the essential towels can be used as a cute chair cover, additional blanket, wall hanging, or even a scarf. Instead of having to deal with the eyesore and the storage issues of plain bath towels littering your space, knock two birds out with one stone by having your hygienic products double as decor. Pictured here is the Savona Turkish towel in Navy being used at the pool Overall, being able to have versatile and durable pieces is the most important thing to note when beginning to pack for college life. We have great options for you to keep your room feeling like home, while also being able to make the most out of your storage.  Click here to browse your options

Don't panic - today is Towel Day! May 25th 2020 - The Riviera Towel Company

Don't panic - today is Towel Day! May 25th 2020

For fans of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: don't panic - today is Towel Day! It's Towel Day, a day to honor the late Douglas Adams (wiki) and the first book of his 5-book "trilogy", The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (trailer for the movie version is below). The quote regarding the importance of always carrying a towel (I keep one in the trunk of my car): A towel, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you)*; you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough. More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: nonhitchhiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, washcloth, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet-weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitchhiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitchhiker might have accidentally "lost.". What the strag will think is that any man that can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with. Hence a phrase that has passed into hitchhiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.) *Here's an animated version of "wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you)":
